Title: Etheree for Africa Size: 59” X 55½” Date: May 2007
|
Red, Blue and yellow fabrics hand
dyed and painted. Quilt is pieced
and appliquéd. The poems were
stamped on scraps and the cut to
fit as if words cut from newspaper
and magazines. Tree is made from
thread painting. Boy and continent
use appliqué and trapunto.
Foreground is pieced and
appliqué. In the black boarders I
have quilted the West African
Symbols for hope or faith in God in
all four corners, and the symbol for
prayers lifted to heaven on the
sides.
All proceed from this quilt went to
support the African Schools
under the leadership of Bishop
Wandabula.
