2026 Declutter Challenge Day 9

My studio is in pretty good shape except for the Trail of Tears Project. I did not need to cull magazines, or sewing books this year. My scissors and cutting blades are hanging up with my rulers. For the Hot Spot day I sorted all the scraps of fabric and fabric with fusible wed by color and size and have it in the correct drawers. I’ve gotten all the thread sorted and back on my peg wall, and large spools in one drawer and 30 wt threads in another.

For my project during this year’s declutter I am working on a very large Trail of Tears collage quilt. I have reworked it many times as I just have not been satisfied with it. One problem has been my new box of steam a seam 2 not sticking or not staying in place if I move the quilt. Yesterday I decide the 5 ft table I’m using was not working and my design wall was not big enough. I took down my heavy design wall and we put up a lighter weight insulation board covered in flannel. My new board is 4ft by 8ft. Part of the board runs under my rose quilt so I just pinned up the edge temporarily. I worked late last night to move and reworked my quilt using a glue stick and pins. Most of the stuff that fell of is added back. Then I decided to add more sky so reworked the background and put the trees back. Still have a lot of work but it is more to my liking. Today I swept the rooms again and moved all my plants to the mantle and to my magazine shelf to make a place to set my old heavy design wall. The book case it is in front of is not used often so for now it is not a problem sitting in front of it. Tomorrow I will work on my organza ghost indians for the Trail of Tears quilt.
