New Year 2026
I am once again participating in the Just Get It Done Declutter Challenge. I am also participating in the Persimon Dreams bi-weekly Project Quilting season 17. The first challenge is called “Blank Slate” and also incorporates the 2026 Pantone color of the year “Cloud Dancer” which is an off white. I used recycled materials for my quilt. It started with some raw silk fabric from an old shirt . I quilted this with leaves and an alphabetical list of creative words. (act believe create dream evolve fun gratify hope imagine journal kindle learn make nurture observe play query reform sculpt transcend upcycle visualize wonder xerox yodel zumba) These were quilted in a clear holographic thread, and were not as visible as I would have liked. The raw silk was my blank slate and the words things to do in the new year from A-Z, mostly dealing with artistic actions. Next I created a tree from scraps of newsprint fabric and satin stitched it to the quilt. My luna was made from scraps of faux fur, yarn scraps, beading from a wedding dress, jewelry wire, and thread. My white luna symbolizes deep transformation, spiritual rebirth, new beginnings, intuition. I thought this was a great way to show the possibilities of creativity for the new year. The final quilt was mounted on 14 by 11 canvas and wire was added for hanging.
